Making a World of Difference
I'm playing the "Black Ram" guitar here, made from a windfallen old growth tree from the proposed Black Ram Climate Refuge in Montana.
This summer, a group of Maine artists, writers, and researchers travel from Portland to the proposed Black Ram Climate Refuge in Montana’s Yaak Valley, stopping at old-growth forests and proposed climate refuges along the way. The Green Curtain Roadshow will map a future “Green Curtain” of climate refuges across the country and amplify the voices of old-growth forests through the transformational power of music, writing, science, and visual art.Click here to learn more. These folks could use your financial support. Please, if you can, donate!
The Roadshow comes to Portland on June 23rd, 5-7 PM at the Belleflower Brewing in Portland, ME (66 Cove St, Portland, ME 04101) with storytelling and music. People can put their name in a hat, and over the course of the evening, names will be drawn to share a short spoken word piece. In between, musicians--including yours truly--will perform. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, snacks on site. Feel free to bring in food from the outside (there might even be food trucks parked out front.)
I'll be playing a full set of music at the Roadshow's next stop in North Conway, New Hampshire, July 8th, 5:30 to 7 PM. Venue: The Ledges, a pub at White Mountains Hotel, 87 Fairway Drive, North Conway, NH 03860. Music, readings, art, and tabling from New Hampshire environmental advocacy groups. Tell your White Mountain friends; a great time for a good cause!

On My Mind
How does one maintain personal equilibrium as ‘things’ appear to be getting worse? Some days are better than others…I start with self-care: healthy eating, regular exercise and rest. In addition, I borrow freely-and-loosely from Buddhism's Three Jewels:
Sangha: I participate in spiritual community
Dharma: I learn from the wisdom of the ones who’ve gone before.
Buddha Consciousness/True Self: in a community, context, I practice activism and service. Nature is my Guide and my Refuge.
How do you do it? Email me your strategies and I’ll include them in my June newsletter!
